AI study tutor and assignment coach

Workbook tutor (page 3): explains, diagnoses, hints and sets new practice questions for each lesson. It will not give the answer to the lesson’s own activity.
Assignment coach (page 5): explains the task, helps plan, reviews the student’s own draft against the success checklist, and checks technical accuracy. It is instructed never to write assessable content: no paragraphs, rewrites, tables, emails, IP schemes, configurations, test plans or evaluations for the client, and never to predict grades.
Tamper-resistant: the page sends only a task or lesson ID. The brief, checklist, course notes and integrity rules are held on the server, so students cannot edit them.
AI-use log: every coach question is saved on the student’s device with the date, task and a reply extract. Ask students to download and submit it with each assignment, and sample it during internal verification.
Privacy: no student accounts, no names collected, and no conversation stored on the server. Work stays in the student’s browser until they download it.
Cost control: the tutor runs on the college’s Azure AI service behind a gateway with shared rate limits and a daily quota. If the service is switched off, every page still works and the tutor shows an “offline” message.

Status: the AI service needs the college Azure subscription to be active. When it is re-enabled, the Unit 19 tutor and coach are deployed and switched on by the course administrator.

Academic integrity checklist

Share the plain-English Assignment guide with the official brief, and go through the “Your own work” section together.
Explain what the AI may and may not do, using slide 6 of the deck.
Collect the AI-use log with each submission. Compare it with the draft history if you have concerns.
For BC.D3, check diaries weekly: portfolio evidence must be dated and built up during the project.
Use witness statements for practical configuration and professional behaviour.

Assignment tasks and checklists live in api/assignments-u19.json, shared by the Assignment guide, the builder and the AI coach. The teacher deck is generated by tools/unit19/teacher_deck.js.
